Default TrueBlood!

Entourage is pretty crappy (i still watch them all, but the first two episodes have been snoozers, minus Drama being super funny) so far, and Dexter and Californication don't start until a week from Sunday. Weeds is over, so I found myself watching a show which I was very weary of, TrueBlood. I thought this show would be crappy, I don't know why since I love vampires. The first episode didn't do much for me, but I think this is a show that could get me super hooked. Is anyone else digging on this show, or at least watching it? After the first episode I wasn't too excited, but after the second I find myself waiting in heavy anticipation for the next one (rest of season).

The first episode had a butt-load of exposition to catch us up, so I gave it some lee-way. The second episode really caught my attention, though. Super heavy in atmosphere.

The music is great throughout, but the opening song (Chris Isaak, I think) is great. I think it's called "I Wanna Do Bad Things With You."

The lead vampire is pretty good, too. I like vampires that aren't stereotypical. He reminded me of the vamps in "Near Dark." American, Southern, from the Civil War era with all sorts of courtly manners.

Meh. I tried. Anna Paquin is starting to irk me. The Piano excluded, she was decent in a few roles. And using her for the traditionally buxom Rougue was risky but worked in the end. But roles where she's supposed to play sexy vixens just don't seem to work. I remember 25th hour being a good example. And it seems like she's trying too hard to be sexy. And not in a lolita sort of way. But now I'm starting to think she's just not a good actor.

This post seems oddly creepy.

What I find interesting about this show is I know about 20 people who've seen it. 15 hate it, and the other 5 are improvisers. I'm wondering with sincerity why that is.

I've watched the first two episodes, and I think the non-Anna Paquin acting is good, the setting and characters interesting, and the premise is neat, but I feel like nothing has really happened in the first two episodes. In order for this show to be enjoyable, I need more plot.

i've seen the first episode off of Surfthechannel.com (free tv...) I haven't seen the second one because everytime I try its taken down!!!!!!!!

SO....I liked the first episode okay. I, too, love vampires (SO MUCH) and i'm a bit of a snob as to how they look. i like the canine teeth to be the vampire teeth. the other type just seem to close together for me. Just is...this is coming from someone whose favorite movie is "the Lost Boys" and they have their teeth close together too....

BUT anyhoo. Yeah, it was pretty interesting. I really want to watch the second episode, but don't have the ol' HBO.

so boo.

I liked last night's episode a bit better than the first two. I liked meeting some other vampires (and for some reason, I laughed out loud at the line "If you're hungry, have some of Jerry!"). There was some nice character development with Anna Paquin's brother and the bartender lady, and further building of the mystery of who's killing the people Anna Paquin's brother has been sleeping with.

So what's the deal with the guy who owns the bar? Is he a werewolf? Or a were-dog?

he's been seen with the dog. Maybe he is both the dog and himself? Or he can switch which being his mind is in. Or maybe it's a just another character that is in love with Anna Paquin. Sookie is a terrible name.

Nope. That was a different dog. And he called it "my brother."
