Did anyone watch last night?
Didn't think so. I forgot it was on, but ended up catching some of the later parts. Sorry I missed: -The Tina Turner & Beyonce duet. -Morris Day & the Time. Glad to see: -Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. What a fucking treat that was. That classed up the joint in a hurry. -Amy Winehouse wins. The expression on her face was priceless. -Keely Smith & Kid Rock duet on Old Black Magic. 50 years later, Keely's still got it! (the same hairdo, that is) Anything else I missed? |

Herbie Hancock.
Who says the Grammys are an irrelevant award show?

Herbie surprised most when he edged everyone else out for the album of the year. I admit, I've heard nothing from The Joni Letters. Now I'm curious.
And again, his performance of Rhapsody in Blue (in tandem with classical pianist Lang Lang) showed that he truly is a class act who embraces all great jazz while having become a legend in his own right. Good on 'im. |

I saw bits and pieces of it. The performances that I saw were absolutely terrific. Yeah, Beyonce and Tina Turner were great! I can't believe Tina Turner is 69! Granted her face looked as though it's been stretched to heavens, but she still looks great.
They opened the show with a duet with Alicia Keys and Frank Sinatra which was really good. Best performance that I saw was the tribute to The Beatles featuring Cirques de Soleil's LOVE and the song "Let it Be'" from some of the cast from Across the Universe. |

Amy Winehouse is kind of a mess, but man-o-man, she sure can sing.
Also, her reaction to winning is one of the best moments in award show history. Her stunned look as everyone around her celebrates was wonderful. |
