DESCRIPTION:

Producing live theater – whether a proven published work, an original script, performance art or an improvised long-form – is often a more daunting task than is either necessary or rewarding.

Veteran Off-Loop producer Don Hall has walked the walk, with over 60 Chicago-based productions (including the Ninth Annual Chicago Improv Festival), as well as productions in Toronto, Edinburgh and New York City. This five-hour masterclass goes inside the mechanics of effectively producing a live show from how to pick a project, how to finance it, and choosing an appropriate venue to basic marketing and public relations, staffing issues, and how to get the most “bang for your buck”.

THE INSTRUCTOR:

Don Hall is the producer of over 60 original theatrical productions in Chicago, many receiving both critical and commercial success. He has produced theater both nationally and internationally. The Founding Director of Chicago’s WNEP Theater, Hall has over fourteen years experience in the realm of creating and effectively producing and promoting Off-Loop theater.
