These short term workshops are designed to diagnose and treat your specific improvisation challenges. Each clinic meets once a week for four weeks. Tuition is $100, and registration is capped at eight students.

IMPROV DYNAMICS with Susan Messing: Learn the art of total personal commitment to the “moment” in this class with Second City Mainstage alum and Annoyance Theatre founding member Susan Messing. Class will emphasize personal growth as an improviser with special attention to the performer’s connection to character and space. Open to students of all levels. Class time: Mondays 5:30-7:00, starts January 12, 2009.

STYLES AND EMOTIONAL HEIGHTENING with Blaine Swen: Improvised Shakespeare founding member Blaine Swen leads this workshop on believable and extreme emotional commitment in improvised theater styles. Open to students of all levels. Class time: Mondays 5:30-7:00, starts January 12, 2009.

IMPROVISING WITH POWER with Matt Hovde: Add value to your improvising by learning to make and hold on to the choices and characters that lead to stronger improvised scenes. Second City Mainstage director <st1>Matt Hovde</st1> leads this clinic for advanced improvisors. Prerequisite: this course is open to students in Conservatory Level 2 and above or by permission of the Training Center. Class time: Tuesdays 5:30-7:00, starts February 3, 2009 .

GROUP WORK with Craig Uhlir: Learn to use your strengths for the whole groups benefit in this course with Second City Las Vegas alum Craig Uhlir. Prerequisite: open to students in Level E and above or equivalent experience. Class time: Mondays 5:30-7:00, starts February 9, 2009.

ORGANIC SCENEWORK with Michael Patrick O’Brien: Build your scenes one line at a time without planning on the sidelines or driving from within the scene. Allow yourself to make discoveries with your partner in this class with Second City Mainstage performer Michael Patrick O’Brien. Prerequisite: Improv Level C and above or equivalent experience. Class time: Wednesdays 5:30-7:00, starts February 11, 2009.

DRAMATIC IMPROV with Tim O’ Malley: Deepen your acting skills by taking the focus off the funny. Open to all Levels. Class time: Thursdays 5:30-7:00, starts January 15, 2009.
