Congratulations to Sara Fox! Former Training Center Student and Newest Member of the ComedySportz Professional Ensemble!
Could you Be Next?
ComedySportz Term 1 Training Schedule
Term 1 (January 11th – March 2nd)*
Level 202 and 404 Sundays 3-6 ComedySportz Theatre, 929 W. Belmont
Level 101 and 505 Mondays 7-10 ComedySportz Theatre, 929 W. Belmont
Level 101: Fundamentals of Improv (Never been on stage before? Here’s your class!)
We focus on the basic skills of improvisation: team-building, trust, speed, status, active listening, and agreement. Whether you want to be funnier on stage, or be a more effective communicator, listener, and leader off stage -- you should always start with the Fundamentals!
Level 202: Scenic Improvisation (Have you taken improv classes before? This might be your class!)
Focus now on character and more advanced scene improvisation. Begin to live on stage through object and environment work. Learn to raise the stakes of otherwise ordinary relationships by exploring yourself and the scene.
Level 404: Styles and Genre (If you have taken Level 303, this is your class!)
The best kept secret in Chicago: how to effectively use genre in performance. Genre parody is common in sketch comedy, but often avoided in performance improvisation - except at ComedySportz! 404 focuses on those ComedySportz games that heavily employ genres and style work, and gives students the opportunity to gain mastery in one of the more difficult areas of the artform.
Level 505: Music Improv (The next tool in your box if you’ve completed Level 404!)
Much of the magic of a ComedySportz show is found in our performers ability to do improvised singing. In this class you'll learn the skills needed to sing to music you've never heard before, the elements of a successful improvised song, and ComedySportz's current repertoire of musical games.
*Final Week of Term is a Student Show at the ComedySportz Theatre, 929 W. Belmont
Level 101-606 is $200 per Term. Electives are TBA.
