Everyone who posts on or reads this board is probably of voting age. So I encourage you to register to vote, if you have not done so already.
I know, I know, we forget. Or we move. Or we still declare residency out of state. Or we've lost our voter card. It's okay. But with two months until Election Day, and only a month to register in some areas, we can't wait too long.
In Illinois, the deadline is Tuesday, October 7. To see when voter registration ends in your state, click this link:

Want to get an absentee ballot? Have other voting questions? Click this link for the Secretary of State's office in your state:

Along with the Presidential contest, all the seats in the U.S. House of Representatives are up, as are about 1/3 of the Senate. That's a lot of races going on. And we have the power to affect who wins. Let's register and do it.
Thanks,
Steve

Obama's campaign has just put up a new site to help everyone with registration, regardless of your political leanings:
https://www.voteforchange.com/
The Vote For Change site asks for your name, your home address on this coming Election Day, plus your e-mail address, and then it confirms if you are registered in the national voter database. It also provides info on "early voting" times (we have that in Chicago starting in mid-October) and you can sign up to get your polling place e-mailed to you. Info on absentee voting is also available.
**SIDE NOTE**
For anyone working with any campaign this fall, I strongly recommend you do the early voting or vote absentee. Especially if you're going to drive people to the polls on Election Day, or if you're calling people around the country, or helping in some other way. If you do it early, then you don't have to spend time on Election Day getting to the polls. So take care of yourself first, then get out the vote!

Loop-workers, if you still haven't registered at your current address, the registration center on the lower level of 69 W. Washington is open until midnight tonight. It's super painless.
