Has got to be 24, right?

I haven't watched it until seeing a couple of episodes this year on TIVO with my roommate.

It's awful. The dialogue is awful. The plot sucks. They make torture look like it saves lives when in fact its a completely unreliable way to get information.

And its produced by an extreme right wing nutjob.

It's like Dick Cheney, Pamela Anderson, and David Hasselhoff fell asleep and their collective sub-conscious had a wet dream. It's brutal.

My roommate would be heartbroken to hear me say it, but I absolutely agree. I can't get past my political prejudices to relax enough to enjoy the show. The whole time I'm watching it, I think to myself, "I am watching the closest thing to Neo-con pornography." (Because those guys aren't comfortable with sex. Just pro-American, Rah Rah violence.)

I tried to watch a single episode with him and his friend, Christina, but had to quietly get up and walk away during a commercial break. And out of respect for him, I don't discuss my problems with the show.

But I just can't watch it...

I guess the worst shows are anything that isn't adult swim & cartoons, everything else is crap. I'm done. Well that was easy.

I dunno which way you wanted to go with this thread, but rather then piling on 24 (I've never seen a minute of it), I'll throw my nominee for worst show on television.

Honestly I cannot get over how bad A War at Home is. As a guy who thought Rappaport was mildy different when he first came on the scene, and in turn enjoyable, he now is nauseating. This show is fucking awful.

My name is Earl is wildly overrated by people who enjoy it as well. Jason Lee is funny, and the first episode I saw was funny. Then I realized it's "I'm a hick" jokes for twenty minutes every week. I wonder if Foxworthy is behind this.

I'm sure there are worse shows...Cops...The Real World, but I was only including shows that seem to be written by a steaming pile of writers.

Really? You hate 24 because it is produced by a republican....yawn.

I’m almost through season 2, I deem this show the perfect ‘guys’ show. Gunplay, espionage, and crazy plot twists, the only problem I have is there isn’t nearly enough karate.

Dance-Off With Your Pants Off

Dumb TV. (though, somehow, I'm convinced Steve Gadlin could make that show work)

Girls Behaving Badly

Simply insufferable.

No, I hated it before I knew a crazy nut job produced. I found that out later. He's not just a Republican. He's insane. I'm sure there are many shows that Republicans have produced over the years that I like. Neo-con fanatics on the other hand...not a fan of their work.

Anyways, from what I heard the first couple of seasons of 24 were decent, but this past year or two have gotten more violent, i.e. the torture scenes.

In its current state, it's unwatchable.

Also, my roommate had ER on the other day. I know it still gets decent ratings (or for NBC, terrific ratings), but that show is off the charts bad too.

If were talking Fox shows... Could someone with an ounce of humanity please pull the plug on The Simpson? It's been waning for far too long. Though I will say their more recent eppisodes are a lot better than the two years prior. Still though tere are so many external jokes it's not even a show anymore. Just put this thing to bed.

It's glory days are far behind it... Of course now is the perfect time for a movie.

Identity.

Shame on you, Penn Gillette.

I'm going to disagree with you on Identity. It's actually one of the more (potentially) intellectual game shows. At least, it could be if they got contestants who were smarter. I'm convinced nobody has played that show "right" yet. At least not that I've seen. With the bonuses they're allowed to use, it makes much more sense to find the harder identities first then save the obvious ones until later.

I think the worst television show on right now is Zoobilee Zoo... from the campy writing to the used up plots to the awful acting to the gay-ass costumes... it's a freaking wreck!

Case in point:

I loooooovvveee 24!

This years isn't the greatest, but past seasons have been awesome.

It's implausible. Sometimes the plots are a little ridiculous. The dialogue can be pretty corny. But, it's great, great, great!

Jack Bauer is the American James Bond. Here are the lessons I've learned from watching 24. http://jeffgriggs.blogspot.com/2007/04/lessons-ive-learned-from-watching-24.html

To be honest, you can't watch the show in the middle of the season. That makes the dialogue and plots worse. 24 is a 24 week investment. If you buy in from the beginning, it's a long glorious ride.

Worst show on TV? No question about it. It's "According to Jim". Could go down as the worst show in the history of TV.

24 is the best show to come out of the 00's so far.

The worst show on TV is Mind of Mencia.

From what I've seen of 24, it is well crafted and exciting. But Jesus, right wing as hell. Loaded with ultra-baddie villains who want to destroy the U.S. of A, which of course, justifies lotsa torture. In this day and age, that kinda makes me sick.

According To Jim is as terrible as anything that has ever run on the teevee. I like to reserve a little hate-spot for the old Norman Lear sitcom, One Day At A Time, Valerie Bertinelli's nubile hotness notwithstanding.

I watched DVD 1 of "Day 1" and I just couldn't get through any more. It was just too much boom, and too much Kiefer looking "serious." Comapred to some of the old spy thrillers of the 70's, 24 is just going to lose. (For the record, the miniseries of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is great.)

I enjoy My Name is Earl. I'll agree that they lay on the yokel stuff a bit thick, but most (if not all) of the comedy comes from the relationships between the characters. (In some ways, it reminds me of Bassprov.) I like that the show has an unfailingly positive outlook, that the majority of the characters truly care about each other, even if they snark, and that the characters actually grow and change throughout the show.

I think the worst show on television is Law & Order: SVU. Aside from the acting and the ridiculous plots, I admit that my beef is mostly political. The show pretty much boils down to an argument that the 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th amendments should not apply to people that the NYPD thinks are rapists. Awesome.

Griggs, your 24 list is hilarious.

I love 24. Maybe not this season so much, they really set us up for something they didn't deliver, which was a fallible, weakened and unbalanced Jack. But whatebs.

And not every season can be fantastic. Last season was so fantastic, that 24 gets a pass this year.

They also get a pass because Powers Boothe is the scariest man to ever be placed on television, ever.

Worst show on TV? Flava of Love.

I heard the openings of CSI: Miami are always the same and hilarious.

The bad red headed actor always like finds a body, rips off his sunglasses and has some ridiculous pity quote.

If someone wants to elaborate on that, please do.

This is all very interesting to me.
I find the first season of 24 to be one the best tv series ever.
I have thouroughly enjoyed every season after...
and I always think, there's NO WAY they can continue to make this gimmick interesting...
and I always end up watching the entire season in like 2 days.

I haven't seen this season at all cause I always watch them a season late on netflix...
but seriously...
seasons 1 and I would say 2... are some of my favorite television of all time.

I didn't know this was a show. Now a bit from League of Gentlemen is illuminated for me. If I cared enough to check for every British pop culture reference in the show, I am sure it would go from greatest television comedy ever to.... well, still the greatest.

Worst show on TV - VH1. The whole fucking thing.

amen to that, sister. [high five]
i know people have already made this point in the past but remember when the music television stations played videos? i hate all the programming on mtv/vh1. just terrible.

that being said, i still watch it sometimes. it's like a car wreck.

speaking of wrecks, the best televsion is on Spike; all those "Worst Car/Train/Animal/Rollercoaster/Police Chase/Hot Air Balloon Stuck in Telephone Wires/Rodeo Accidents Caught on Tape". I could watch all junk all day. 2 all day.

remember when youtube was just that Indian midget dancing and smoking?

Dude it rocks. I DVR every episode to see the cold opens. The murder happens or the body is discovered and then teh CSI crew arrive and investigate. then it turns into an improv game of last action line (or whatever that short form game is)

my favorite example:

(the victim was shot off a balcony and fell to the super fancy rich miami backyard-mansion party onto a huge ice-sculpture that engorged him so a glacier like thing is sticking through his chest.)

Mexican Guy: The fall didn't kill him, look at this - it's a gunshot wound.
Red-Head: So he was shot, and that caused the fall.
Black woman: So he was shot in broad daylight? At his own party? In front of hundreds of his friends? Damn Horatio... that's cold.
Red-Head (Horatio): It's as cold... (sunglasses on)... as ice.

(Hit super flashy/hip openingcredits with "The Who - Who are You" music - "YYEAAHHH!!!!!")

hahah oh man it is AWESOME.

David Caruso is proof that Kevin Spacey's father also impregnated a talentless redhead.

I think that could make him a red-headed stepchild. Let's beat him.

There's so much bad tv out there. So much of it is so bad that it's not even worth attacking. Mind of Mencia and all of MTV and VH1 fall into that category for me. It's like saying Taco Bell has the worst mexican food. Well, sure. But it isn't really trying to compete. Different animal altogether.

On a slightly different note, I caught a second of "Must Love Dogs" on HBO yesterday.... I know it's a movie, and therefore not TV... but I saw it on TV.

That dialogue is terrible. So awkward and unrealistic. Ouch.

I have to disagree, Steve. I deem Zoobilee Zoo the worst BEST show on TV. Can you turn your eyes away? NO. When you accidentally flip by, can you change the channel? NO. Do you secretly watch it under the guise of making fun of it? YES.

I am obsessed with ZZ and have been for years. Frankly, I think humans dressed up like animals is the GD SCARIEST thing in the world. (Animals dressed up like people...now that's another, more incredibly delightful, story.)

There is no one or nothing creepier than Bravo Fox.
http://www.zoobileezoo.com/Fox.jpg
I would rather let a bucket of centipedes crawl up the leg of my jeans than be stuff in a foxhole with Bravs. I'm quite sure he has a classroom of chopped up little girls stuffed in his freezer. But nevertheless, I cannot turn away when I see him. In fact, I have been known to frequent the ZZ website when reminded of the subject (Today). As much as I hate those zoobles, I also love them.

I think the disease is called Zoobileezitis.

Zoobilee Zoo, Zoobilee Zoo, Magic and Wonder Are Waiting for You!

Holy shit, Carrie, that show scared the hell out of me ... I could look away, though--I had to, lest my nightmares drive me to homicide.

My vote for worst show on TV: Prison Break, only because I am so hopelessly addicted I have put aside other obligations to catch up in anticipation of season 3. Someone, please help me ... and tell Griggs I'm sorry if my screenplay isn't finished--I needed to see what happened to T-Bag!
