ATTENTION BROTHERS AND SISTERS:

we have a softball team here at io. and we are legendary. just ask us.

spring training is upon us (it's a week, so don't blink), and we're looking for a few good men and women to refresh our ranks and put us back on top, or at least ahead of the annoyance theater in the standings.

if you:
a) play softball
b) are good at softball
c) have heard of softball and wanna give it a try
d) actually possess softballs
5) hate softball but are looking for a chance to wave around a sizable phallic symbol in a co-ed environment...

then you should come out to our first practice and join the squad. (don't you just wanna be on a squad?)

the games are fun, we don't take things too seriously but are always one of the best teams in the league, and we sometimes get a little schnookered after the games (sometimes at io, sometimes in the back of a panel van.) plus, our games are completely improvised, so it's a good chance to hone your skills. many softball alums, as a result of their experience with io softball, have been catapulted to success on mad tv, snl, the colbert report, and level 3 classes.
we have a practice this wednesday (may 2) from 6-8
and our first game is a week from wednesday (may 9) from 6:30-7:30.
it's against the annoyance, and it's our mission every year to beat them like the rug they are.
the games and practices are at the fields on montrose, just west of lake shore drive.

so shoot me an email at sidewinder3000@gmail.com if you wanna be part of a winning team this summer that doesn't play all it's games in the cabaret. and don't worry if you can't make our first practice. just gimme a shout. i'll put you on the email list and let you know what to do. also, if you know anyone else who might not see this email but would be a good softballer, have them drop me a line as well.

and finally, if you can't be an athlete this sumer, then at least be an athletic supporter. the more people who come to watch us, the more recklessly and dangerously we play.

see you out there,

the coach.

Buuuuuuuurn!

Although, it should be mentioned that overall, they had a much, much, much better season than we did.

I think our final stat was 2-12!

Just as a quick aside, we discussed getting t-shirts printed up with the following legend on the back

2-12*
*(we DID beat IO!)

But laziness won out and our t-shirts will be missing that particular flourish, this year.

We should get together a nice rivalry between the two teams, just for kicks.

Cheers,
COB

Is this the league where you have to field the ball bare-handed?

I remember sitting in on a league game a year or so ago and the softball actually WAS a fairly soft ball. Just curious, as I don't have a glove that fits.

We play with soft balls. Very large, soft balls. With bare hands.

Just to clarify...I received an e-mail stating that practice is on Sunday. Does that mean no practice today? The previous post said practice is today.

Correct. No practice today. Sunday.
