So I need a new job.

Badly.

Really badly.

People have said that headhunters are the way to go but that I need to make sure I find the right one.

So who is the right one? I have tried doing a search for them and I get a list of companies.

Anyone used a headhunter before?

I'm looking for full time work.

I've been at my current job for 5 years so it was straight out of college. Hence I have no idea where to begin to find another job.

help!!

david gomez and associates is a place to start. i kind of absent-mindedly got my first real job out of college through them, which i still have, though i recently went part-time. i don't know much about them, but i do know that they're online, they're a mid-level headhunter/placement firm, and they cover many industries. hope that helps!

If your field is advertising or marketing, check out Melinda Holm & Associates (http://www,mhajobs.com).

That's the thing. I don't even know what field I would be good for.

I got a BA in Math and I've been with this firm for 5 years doing such tasks as Customer Service (on phones), quality assurance (scoring phone calls) to pension calculations (behind the scene stuff for the people on the phones)

Which reminds me....I need to update my resume.

This is stressful.

Job hunting is stressful. I'm not actively looking but I'm still going to update my resume because you never know what might come up. I don't think Melinda Holm & Associates takes anyone without experience in advertising or marketing, so that wouldn't be the way to go.

Good luck, Jessica!

You could tutor rich kids in math.

Charge $50 per hour.

In general, headhunters work best if you are a) in a specialized field like advertising or design or b) make a decent amount of money. Since (legitimate) headhunters work on comissions paid by your employer and employers don't like paying out extra money, many firms don't bother to use headhunters when filling mid-level positions.

That's not to say that headhunters can't help you, just that you shouldn't put all of your eggs in one basket. This is definitely the case, if your job search is "undefined." A headhunter is only going to be super helpful if you can give them a concrete idea of what you're looking to do.

ugh.

Where are the high school counselors to tell me what career I could have.

That's really what I need.

Actually I just need someone to tell me a place where they work that I would be great for and then I can apply and all would be awesome. :)

sigh.

we'll see how it goes.
