...is the end of the Mayan calendar. It's the supposed apocolypse, and from the way everyone is getting all war happy it doesn't seem like it's totally out of question. What I find most interesting is that whoever is the next president will be the one to lead us right into that date, so my question is: Who do you think is most likely to lead us right into a global apocolypse. The obvious choice is McCain I think, but for some reason I get this feeling Obama or Clinton would as well.

Technically, this thread belongs in Politico, but I'm sure one of the mods will move it there, eventually.
I know that a lot of "hay" will be made about McCain being the most war-like and likely to lead us into that terrifying, oblivian of the Mayan apocalypse. Considering her voting records, one has to consider that Hillary Clinton would also be likely to send us screaming into Hell. And Obama, well... it's likely that his assasination would spark the world conflict that the Mayans foresaw.
For my money, though, the candidate to fear the most is Mike Gravel. Although he doesn't get a lot of press, Gravel hasn't conceded his campaign. He's on a "hiatus", waiting until the most opportune moment to rise up and announce his return to the nomination. Analysts suspect that will happen at the Democratic National Convention. Granted, he has no delegates and isn't really a blip on the national radar, but stranger things have happened.
Gravel is pro-war. Pro-abortion. Pro-genocide. And Pro-Massacre. In his stump speech to announce his candidacy, he said, "Behold, My Awesome Glory! I am the terrible obscene oblivian that the Mayans foresaw, come to reap my will upon this Earth. I shall mount your women, splitting them from within with my Giant Man-hood. I shall bloody your children and flay the flesh from your men. I am the Omega! The Beast! The End of All Things! I am Evil Incarnate On This Plane and I DEMAND your vote!" His supporters immediately burst into flames and their death cries unified and joined into a chorus of "Gravel Bless America". Obviously, he has Neo-conservative tendancies.
Mike Gravel is the candidate that I fear the most. This is a recent photo from his website. Wow.

I do believe, I am the Omega.

Actually this end of the Mayan calendar doesn't necessarily denote the apocalypse. It's supposed to be a "drastic shift in consciousness" or something like that.
Either way, it's a myth.
But for the sake of argument, John McCain.

I think if you looked under Ralph Nader's mop of hair you'd see an upside down 666 tattooed to his forhead.
I think its important to remember that the end of this 4th age is supposed to come not by water, fire or earthquake as the first 3 did, but by Jaguars from the Sky.
Jaguars people.....Jaguars.

Just because something is a myth doesn't mean it's entirely untrue.
A drastic shift in consciousness is arguably something that's likely to happen if we're going to avoid virtual extinction. I don't reckon so much on the prophesies of Nostrodamus or Mayan calendars, but it's pretty evident that if we keep spreading around the planet and consuming its resources at the exponential rate we are, we're fucked.
We're either going to adapt quickly, or die off. We'll probably adapt, but a lot of people are going to die in the process. Possibly millions. That would bring about a drastic shift in consciousness on a number of levels.
Certain fundamentalists believe this is eminent, and that it'll bring the rapture. God put us here to rule the planet, fill it up with his children, and consume it. Then Jesus will come at the end.
Put it down to war, famine, greed, global climate change, pollution, ..we're a cool species, but we're on borrowed time and just along for the ride like everything else. We do a lot of damage and if we wipe ourselves out it's just global karma. That's how things work. The planet doesn't play favorites and it'll think nothing of wiping us out if we become too cancerous.
Nature always wins in the end.
So relax and have a great day today.

I will interpret Jaguars to mean Evil Be-spotted Space Aliens with huge jaws and no remorse and a major blood lust.
John McCain will not be able to fend the alien attack off.
So long and thanks for all the fish.
If in 4 years we're supposed to have some great revelation and everyone changes I think we all know who will be president... Obama.
The Mayans called it!
Seriously, McCain and Clinton aren't going to do a damn thing different than any other president in the past twenty some odd years.
Though if the press covered things fairly I'd say that Ron Paul would be the man to beat in this situation, because he without a shadow of a doubt would be the man to make serious change for the better.
2012, as it has been said, is not necessarily the end of the world. It is the end of the current cosmic ruling order, thus the beginning of the age of Aquarius. It is a time when economic and political power will be replaced by artistic and creative power, and that will be the currency which rules the day. It is also not necessarily 2012 or predicted by Mayans, as that has been exposed as a false date for this occurrence.
In any case, it's probably not politicians we should be concerned about. If this prophecy is to come true, whoever created it probably didn't take that into account. Also, it's Bill Richardson and the Pope. They're the ones who make it happen. Trust me.

Does it matter which candidate sits in the office as long as the Fed Reserve continues to wage the wars? Any puppet will do. Well as long as it's not McCain. :)
