I was interviewed last week for a promotion to a full-time position from freelance. They said, however, that they had other people to interview as well....
so here's my question. If a company interviews someone perfect for the job, do they still do interviews or do they just stop and hire them? Are they required to interview other people? What's the deal.
When I interview I like to at least stay obligated to the appointments that I have scheduled even if I fall in love with the very first candidate I meet. It's great research. The subsequent candidates may validate your initial love for the first candidate even more... or you juuust might find someone even better. Probably depends on how lazy or busy the hiring manager involved happens to be. But I think normally, yes, they will keep interviewing. Just as an act of professionalism. So, if you feel like you nailed the interview... give them a little time to clear the other candidates. But sometimes they will give you the positive hint that you are looking for. :-)

They're really hard to read. And the frustrating part is, I already woirk with them, so it's not like I can sit back and play cool. I see them every day. I'm on my toes constantly.

If you're an internal candidate, you're usually one of the first one's interviewed. Based on accepted HR guidelines, they are required to announce the position publicly and interview external candidates--
but a good HR person usually explains this to the internal candidates in order to manage their expectations.

it was more along the lines of 'oh, I wouldn't worry about it.' wink wink hint hint.
So really, my company better hire me or be marked a c_nttease.
