So I was using the word "boner" in a private message earlier today, and it dawned on me that the time is ripe for a new spelling.
Let's use the old spelling, "boner," when we're talking about a mistake... like, "Tyler made a big boner in Gears of War, and left his rear wide open!"
And let's use this NEW spelling, "bonor," when we're talking about an erect schwantzie. "Tyler has a bonor for Kirstie Alley!"
I just think the "bonOr" spelling more properly invokes the image of a big turgid wing-wong, while the "bonEr" spelling is more appropriate for the "mistake" definition. I think we, as writers, are scared to use the word "boner" to mean "mistake" because we don't want people to think we're talking about dipsticks. But it's an important usage, and by creating this new spelling, one that can soon permeate our daily posts.
Who's with me?
Bonor to me sounds more like a monster built from spare wang parts. Like Godzilla vs. Bonor.

Exactly! And if you ever saw my bonor, you'd agree that this is an appropriate image. A big scary monstor, howling, wild, and ready to attack!

Steev raises a good point.
I don't know.
I don't want to nullify my diploma from Boner Academy.

I reject this: I think the names spelling idea should be reversed. Here is why.
On the show "Growing Pains" there was a character named "Boner." As a kid, this was the funniest, most subversive thing ever. The writers obviously didn't know what boner meant! My mom explained that "boner" means "a screw up." But we all knew that "boner" means "erection."
If you change the spelling of the word meaning erection to "bonor" then that character will no longer be named after an erection - his name will just mean "a screw up." Meaning that the writers of the show would NOT have committed a "boner" when they named the kid "Boner."
So, I vote that the word "boner" continue to mean "erection" while the spelling "bonor" means "a giant screw up."
That way, the writers will have committed a "bonor" when they named the kid "Boner."

When I see it spelled "Bonor" I read it to rhyme with "Honor." And while that act is an "honor" of sorts. . .it seems to be getting away from what the word is really about.

If you disagree, it's because you're stupid.
So... DaveC and Erin... having a change of heart?

I imagine it's pronounced "Bone-Orr". And yeah, it's like a giant barbarian cock or something. It's pretty cool. It breathes fire and shit.
Hmmm. . .I do hate being stupid. . .
Steev, your skills in the fine art of argumentation are too much to me.
Did you have that bebeh yet?

I think an erect penis should be called a "Wildcat".
A pulsating and moistened vagina should be called a "Telfer".

Let's not forget our English friends:
- bonre
- bonour

Is that so you can say "stick the wildcat in telfer?"
Is that so you can say "stick the wildcat in telfer?"
Yes, but also for when someone asks "What's a Telfer?", I can answer "It's fer sticking yer Wildcat in."
enough of that. and back to the original post. i object to even the thought of using the word "boner" in refernce to when someone, particularly tyler, makes a mistake.
a boner is not a mistake.
a boner is a wonderful object of nature we should all behold.

ugh.
you two can both cram it.
my point is that the word boner is awesome and should only represent things that are awesome.
edit: unless, of course, it is this boner:

If by any chance you are referring to a girl pulling a boner, perhaps you should refer to it as a "boneratrix."
Helping!

A girl pulling a boner is called a hand job.

It's like "Hands Across America." Except it's your boner.
"Hands Across Tyler's Boner."
Maybe we can get Bono to write the theme music.

For what it's worth, it'd be "bonatrix."
Of course, in Latin, it'd translate to "a girl who does well."
