Camping Season

Camping season is fast-approaching ... alas, I'm not from around here, so I have no idea where to go. The last two years, I've just flown out to NY to go hiking in the Catskills. But that can be an ordeal.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good weekend hiking/backpacking trips-something that would be roughly equivalent to, say, the Catskills/Poconos/etc.

Thanks, Glass. I've seen that online--is that more of a day-hike, or can you backpack there?

The Adirondacks. they are even better than the 'skills.

Thanks. Pops. For a two day hike and plane rides, though, I've never had the time to make it up there. I'm looking for somewhere around here, so I can avoid the flight and get in some more quality time on the trails. (The Adirondacks are on my list though.)
