The Chicago Comedy Association is seeking qualified judges for a new award to honor Chicago Comedy Theaters. "The Chicago Comedy Theater Award" is set to begin our award year in September 2007. To apply to become a judge and be able to see some of the cities richest and most ground breaking Comedy please send your answers to the following questions to Chicago_comedy_association@yahoo.com and we will contact you for a personal interview:

More about the Chicago Comedy Theater Awards:
After our judging panel is in place will be begin to accept Production request for judging.
Productions Eligibility Requirements:
1. Each producing company must have been producing
for at least one year prior to judging and has to
produced at least two shows in the prior year.
2. Eligible shows must be at least one hour in length
and run for at least 6 consecutive weeks once a week.
3. They must charge admission to these shows.
4. They must be producing the eligible show within the Chicago City Limits
5. The eligible show content must be of comedic intent
6. The eligible show must be willing to give 10 comp
tickets total to the Chicago Comedy Award judges assigned to there
show sometime within the first three weeks of the run.
The following criteria would disqualify a group from
Judging:
groups with ties either financial or artistically to any
educational, religious, or social service institution, or to a municipal park district.
Each show will be assigned 10 judges to see the show
within the first three weeks of the run. Each judge with vote on
each category of the shows seen on a scale of 1-10. Shows with a
majority vote in any given category will be nominated and shows with
the highest votes will be declared the winner.
Categories include Best:
Production in a scripted show
Production in a unscripted show
Ensemble in a scripted show
Ensemble in an unscripted show
Director in a scripted show
Director in an unscripted show
Actress in a Principal Scripted Role
Actor in a Principal Scripted Role
Actress in a Supporting Scripted Role
Actor in a Supporting Scripted Role
Actress in a Unscripted Show
Actor in an Unscripted Show
Musical Director for a Scripted Show
Musical Director for an Unscripted Show
Scenic Design
Costume Design
Lighting Design
Sound Design
Choreography
Original Music
Fight Choreography
A special Achievement award will go to a Long running
show that has been running for more than three years.
