How was the show?
There were some good people in the contest.
I wanna know how it went.

Hannibal rightfully won. The guy is fucking awesome.

That's great.
Both of those articles make me wish I could have been there to see it live.
Are there any video clips of the show anywhere?

My dad taped my set and the sound is kind of washed out. But I'd happily email it to you if you like. Sadly I don't think Time Out recorded the whole thing but I wish they had. Who knows when I'll be able to do so well in front of 300+ people again. Guh. It was awesome.

Has anybody brought up the fact that some of the judges already personally knew some of the contestants?

One guy did. His head is on a pole-axe out side the TimeOut Chicago Offices.

Whoa, whoa. Forsythe. What are you saying? Are you trying to say this guy is not the funniest person in the city of Chicago?

Well then, who the fuck is?

Oh man. Now I'm getting pissed.

Reading this post it looks like you were the first person to bring it up, Forsythe.

What do you know?!@

Don't be a tease, spill it!

Which do you mean, Forsythe?

Do you mean how Beth Kligerman was chummy with about half of the contestants?

Or do you mean how Chris Ritter mentioned Hannibal is his favorite and most deserving comic to play on his stage?

Or do you mean how I do shows with a couple of the comics?

Jeeeeeesus, Forsythe. Thanks for being such a great detective and making the community aware of such a hot controversy... how everyone in comedy knows everyone in comedy. And how four judges got to score 10 of their peers, and how an audience full of 300 people got to score people as well.

I'm sure there's been a lively thread about this topic on your private little island, so why bother bringing it up here?

I think you're a dick, Forsythe, because I think you're bringing this up to somehow lessen an achievement that's pretty freaking exciting for some of the people involved.

I like how I've been nothing but friendly with Forsythe, and yet this thread somehow elicits this reaction from him. A friendly, dumb little thing about a fluff contest I was in and he drops trou and takes a shit on it. Thanks, friendly acquaintance.

If you were at the show, you wouldn't be retarded enough to pull that kind of comment. The judge I do a couple of shows with gave other comics higher marks than me, first off. Second, Ken Barnard got his highest scores from the people who probably knew him least. Also, Hannibal kicked so much ass that it was even clear to my parents he won the freaking thing, and all the finalists did a bang-up job.

In conclusion, improv is shitty.

No.
I think Forsythe is talking about seeing Steev giving blowjobs to the audience in order to get them to vote for Hannibal.

Right John?

Telfer

Also, no puppets were selected as finalists.

So I thought I'd repost Jon's innocent and fact based question in case people weren't through insanely overreacting to it:

Has anybody brought up the fact that some of the judges already personally knew some of the contestants?

Crago

I agree, Rich. I don't think Forsythe was trying to start any shit here.

what about when he said what he said about blacks and gays and women?
then posted that terrible video clip???

what about that?

It seems like folks were responding to an interpreted attack. Jon didn't attack or belittle anyone. He just asked a question. If you truly believe yourself to be awesome, then his question wouldn't have mattered. If someone told me I didn't like cheese, I'd laugh at them. Because I surely do. Love cheese. All sorts of cheese. Gouda, blue, brie, cheddar etc. If you know for yourself, than no one can take that away from you. Especially not with a question that may or may not be taken the wrong way.

Hey, did anyone notice that Dayna works at a deli? (Does this lessen my love of camenbert? I think not!)

I wasn't at the show but when I read the article in the papers about the results and the judges my natural reaction was to find out about the process of this show. I chose the lazy way - posting a question about it in the thread about the competition. It's just the journalist aspect in me wanting to know what's going on. I also thought that if I had this question, probably a few others had this question as well.

I could have PM'd anyone involved or anyone that was at this show and they could have told me how the process went down. You're right Telfter, I didn't know the audience got a vote. But now I do.

Those of you that have overreacted to this need to chill out. You could have simple educated me and the rest of the CIN that everything was above the boards (is that how you say that saying?). I gave you all the chance to counter any attempt at belittling the integrity of this contest. You have thus done so, just not at the temperature I was expecting. I apologize that my tone of speech was not evident in my original post.

Congrats to all those involved; even Telfer.

Also a shout out to Jena and Mike P, whose entry videos I especially loved.

In the second post in the thread, I linked the Time Out article, wherein an anonymous commenter made the exact same challenge and the Comedy Editor for Time Out addressed it. Plus, why bring it up in a nice boring thread unless you want to start some shit? I'm sure you enjoyed the "reaction", or someone you know did, and I'm sure that was the point.

I didn't take it to heart, so don't wear yourself out interpreting how upset I got. I indeed feel pretty awesome about the whole thing.

I only clicked on the first link, because I didn't think reading two articles about the same subject was needed. As such I didn't see that my question was brought up and dealt with. Perhaps you could have told me that instead of overreacting.

And don't assume to know the way my mind works. I had no ill intentions and I take offense at declaring you know exactly what the point of my post was.

fag.

Where you this funny in the contest?

Telfer
11-09-2007, 12:49 AM
No, Gilley impersonations don't go over well onstage.

Rich
11-09-2007, 12:53 AM
Maybe impersonations just aren't your thing

Telfer

Gilley

How did this become about me, Telfer?

And it's not fair that The Third Funniest Person In Chicago is attacking me, pick on someone your own skill level. I can't stand up to that!

It is kinda funny that someone locked that other thread but left "Tyler, don't be a fag." in there. What's up with THAT?
