Putting ideology over the welfare of the American people, Bush vetoes a bill that would expand health care coverage for children from families who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, but can not afford private health insurance.

The main reason cited is that it will entice people to move towards socialized medicine. How many times must we be subjected to this tired and outdated notion that we will be plunged into Gulag-esque souplines, where we'll stand for weeks on end as we grow ever sicker and closer to death, if the government runs our healthcare system?

Once again the Free Market is being touted as a savior, the good, red white and blue alternative to the evils of communism. Never mind the fact that socialism is an economic, NOT a political system, and this country utilizes a combination of capitalism and socialism. It's propaganda, pure and simple.

This is a bullshit con, perpetrated by high powered lobbyists.

Once again, shame on "The President."

This president has never done anything that was in the interest of the American public. Anybody who still supports this fucking failure of a president is a brainwashed idiot, and I'd challenge them to name me just one thing he's done right. Just one. And I will fight you.

Yes, Bush is a miserable failure. But I fear that the runaway hatred of him will breed a weird kind of complacency. People will breath a sigh of relief when he's out, and then the ever more poisonous status quo will comfortably nuzzle its way back into our national brain. Or, rather, it will burrow even deeper.

What America requires is an honest, mature and SANE regard to its own best interests. We need to stop this asinine over-identification with the mega-wealthy, who will use any means necessary to manipulate us into accepting any unjust insult to our own health and well-being. Religion, fear, bigotry and ignorance are money in the bank for the tiny group of power-mongers whose only intent is to own and control everything. And I do mean EVERYTHING. That is their one and only creed.

The fact that our "President" can veto a bill that would provide health care to millions of children, and there is no true uproar, no viable sense of outrage, demonstrates how thoroughly brainwashed we truly are.
