Putting ideology over the welfare of the American people, Bush vetoes a bill that would expand health care coverage for children from families who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, but can not afford private health insurance.
The main reason cited is that it will entice people to move towards socialized medicine. How many times must we be subjected to this tired and outdated notion that we will be plunged into Gulag-esque souplines, where we'll stand for weeks on end as we grow ever sicker and closer to death, if the government runs our healthcare system?
Once again the Free Market is being touted as a savior, the good, red white and blue alternative to the evils of communism. Never mind the fact that socialism is an economic, NOT a political system, and this country utilizes a combination of capitalism and socialism. It's propaganda, pure and simple.
This is a bullshit con, perpetrated by high powered lobbyists.
