pH PRODUCTIONS OPENS IMPROV TRAINING CENTER
OFFERS SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR BEGINNERS, SEASONED PERFORMERS
CHICAGO, September 19 – pH Productions, a Chicago-based improv and comedy theater company, is proud to announce the opening of the new pH Training Center, featuring a different style of improv comedy classes then anything Chicago is used to.
pH Productions has started an improv training center to teach its own unique brand of improvisational theater. pH’s style of fast, intelligent play is singular in Chicago and has led to four critically acclaimed shows with over 1,000 performances all over the country. For the beginner, pH’s classes provide a fun training ground with ample opportunity for grasping the craft of improv in an environment of support. For the advanced improviser, pH's training center adds a new and exciting level of skill sets to add to their improv tool belt.
pH's training center will take a fresh approach to teaching improv and will be creating completely unique class experiences, so that students aren't spending money to repeat things they have already learned elsewhere. In addition, pH will offer exciting elective classes throughout the year in any area they think that their students would benefit from.
“Why is pH beginning a training center,” rhetorically asks pH Co-Artistic Director Micah Philbrook. “In just under 5 years, pH has performed over 1,000 shows, successfully created 4 critically acclaimed improv shows, begun 4 college improv teams, been invited to dozens of festivals, and won 1 golf tournament. So, why not start teaching?”
"When we started pH we knew that we were on to something different in the Chicago comedy community,” said pH Co-Artistic Director Jason Geis, “and now five years later I really feel like we're about to start something else very different in the comedy community with our training center. I think people are really going to have a great time studying with us."
The pH Training Center consists of 5 levels. Each level consists of 8 weeks of weekly classes. The competitive tuition rate is $150 per level.
pHUNDAMENTALS, the first Level 1 class, will begin October 11. Classes will be Thursdays from 7-10PM and will be held at Gill Park. Class size will be limited to 10 students. Enrollment is available now by calling 773.732.5450.
