Welcome to the Givin' Props thread!
Give props to whatever improv group that deserves it. One caveat--you cannot be a member or the director of that ensemble.

I'd like to give props to Duchess (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=59571699). They are playful, funny and silly. Do yourself a favor and check out these ladies whenever you get a chance.

Deep Schwa deserves some props. I hadn't seen them in awhile, and then I saw them last night. Wow, they really work well together, discover the game of the scene immediately and then play it out perfectly.
Go Deep Schwa.

The independent team Kittyhawk consistently puts up a solid show.
The Fling (not sure if that is an independent team or Playground team) rock my socks with their form "A History of Violence".

Props to The R&D Project (Rance and Deanna), who turned in a brilliantly creative showing at last night's Dual Duel.
10 minutes of glory. And they spoke not a word. Nice work, R&D.

Chewties! had a show at the Playground a couple weeks ago and it was awesome. There were only 3 of them (I don't know how many people are usually on the team) but they handled edits and transformations really well and kept the energy way up.

I also want to give props to the independent team Kittyhawk. I've seen these guys do their current form (basically an improvised one-act) around four times now and they consistently knock it out of the park.
I also want to give props to the independent team Kittyhawk.
How else they gonna get that consarned contraption off the ground?

I would also like to hand props to Our Feature Presentation AKA The Movie @ io.
Ive seen their show several times now and I absolutely love the integration of long form and a film. They really attack everything.

Both teams put on really great performances last night at iO in general but it was their group games that gave me the most joy.
MF had a game, more of a group scene, about a Jewish scavenger hunt that was built line by line by the team and at one point caused me to choke on my drink.
JRB had a game paid homage to their suggestion of Monty Python with dancing letters of the ACT test. They brought down the house.
Nice work!

I second davidson's nomination. Both teams played extremely well together. (Let's not forget the JRB "American Idol" scenes. Merely forming the judging panel made me giggle like a small girl.)

I'd like to give props to Talking Funny from CAN TV. I've never seen it live, but I have watched a couple of episodes from their website and I love it. Its totally addictive. There must be something in those TV waves that makes you incapable of looking away. Stevie G and Company have silly down pat. I love the games and the characters (that armie the octopus KILLS me). I know that show must be so much work, but its so worth it. Congrats, dudes.

Signatures! In Raleigh, NC this weekend they had one of the best improv shows I have seen. I wanted to hug them all afterwards.
Otis too, really good good stuff. They made me so very happy.

Deep Schwa. Geezis, that looks fun. This team may have the best chemistry of any at iO. Last night's show made ME funnier--I'm sure of it. Anyone who was there watching is now funnier.

everyone had good shows in nc, but the signatures on saturday and chicago sashay on friday were hilarious.
fun weekend.
topaz was really funny last night. ribbon dick...made me laugh very hard.
BFA (Butt Fuck All-Stars) play fast and attack.
They play fast enough that they are still able to make discoveries, surprise themselves and surprise each other, rather than waiting in a slow scene for something to happen to them.
They may seem irreverent, but you can't forget how hard and fast they are playing. Obviously they care about it and are working hard and the shows that I've seen pop out are good.

Not that they need any props, but I wholeheartedly loved Quartet (Craig Cackowski, Bob Dassie, Rich Talarico and Stephanie Weir), WeirDass (Dassie and Weir) and Trio (Dassie, Talarico and Weir).
It's scary when the folks you worshipped as a student and watched over the years seem to be even better than they were before.
How the heck am I ever supposed catch these jokers. sheesh. ;)

i've got to second Sammy about those three. i didn't have much of a chance to watch them before they left Chicago, but i've seen them every time they've come back. i can't imagine seeing a show like that on a weekly basis.
they're just so patient. Talarico didn't speak for the first two minutes of the Trio show. there was no rush. their goals during the show are admirable. it's such a treat to watch.
Talarico buying condoms and all those knick-knacks at the gas station in the Trio show?
i also recently saw a Revolver show that i really liked. i think they have good group work and they respect each other's individuality by letting odd things play out.

Holy crap, yes! I agree - Sammy, they just keep getting better and better and better...
Oh man! Thanks for the reminder about the check out line scene...so funny.
I have add to this thread Stephnie's plastic surgery character in Weirdass. C'mon! The way she made her face look like it had plastic surgery, and then half of it fell while half stayed frozen, the when Bob "tweaked it" and it got too tight, then back to the first?
Insane.
I wish I could watch them every week.
Sigh.

Guess who sees a lot of shows?
This guy.
Props to Brad Renfro (Ed Illades and Jason Shotts). Hilarious, grounded (fish sticks aside) and engaging to watch.
Also, props to Double Date (Andy Carey, Kat Gotsick, Lisa Linke, Roger Payton). I go out of my way to catch DD shows...one of the few shows where the characters, their lives and their shared histories are persistent and consistent from show to show. Treat yourself won't you?
sammy

Overdue props to Malice's 3-man show (Paul Brittain, Todd Edwards and Dave Gilley). A single 30-minute scene about 3 brothers left alone at home. Absolutely hilarious.
Props, yet again, to Double Date (Andy Carey, Kat Gotsick, Lisa Linke, Roger Payton) with their "sleepover" show at the Playground Marathon.
Big props to Tigers of Macedonia, Radar-7, Wing Night and The Riot! for bringing the energy and hilarity in the wee hours of the morning of the marathon. They owned the house. OWNED it.
Big props to the PG Anniversary committee. No way I could have, or would have wanted to, coordinate everything you guys dealt with last week. Thanks for keeping things running smoothly.
Wendy!

What a great time and a great ending to the week's Playground Anniversary celebration! The first show with the mainstage cast killed as did the Annoyance/ComedySportz and then the stage was all warmed up for iO rockstars.
Awesome shows, awesome week! Thank you to everyone who supported!!!

Major props to all of the 10pm iO shows last night. Aphasia, Blatzberg, and the Husbands.
Fun stuff. Especially the impromptu rave scene when the air compressor for the soda behind the bar started freaking out.
Props to Virgin Daquiri - it's great and inspiring to watch such amazing female improvisers. I loved all the crazy characters last night and hearing Emily use the word "cooter." :)
Props to Felt - as always, you guys had an awesome show last night. Even as puppets, your give and take is great! And I love how the puppets keep getting smaller and smaller.
And lastly, props to Beau- I loved your story last night. You are an incredible writer:)

Props to Very Real Cops! Their show last night was terrific.
Their current run involves each of them doing a new solo show every week, then a guest team, then an awesome video, then their show.
Rizzo's solo stuff last night was beautiful.
A very well put together evening and awesome performances all around.
I haven't watched improv in months. Needed a break. I have seen quite a bit of stand-up lately and I have loved what I've seen. There is some great comedic talent in this city. And it's not found at the usual suspect places if you know what I mean. Unfortunately, I don't have any names to drop. But if you are doing stand-up and are funny I'm probably talking about you.

The Skeleton Attack show last night was one of the best iO shows I've seen in a while. Just beautiful to watch from beginning to end, it's sad to know that it's their swan song. They will be missed...

Agreed.
"Skeleton Attack" played brilliantly. Mark's move early in the show, the opening with the attacking fish, and Henning's fantastic song were just SOME of the highlights.
Easily one of the best shows I've seen in awhile.
They'll be missed.

I would like to send some love to Matt Barberra
The PG is in way better shape than it was a couple of years ago. There were tons of people involved with this (Speedy, Hendo, the new house managers) but I would like to send some special love to Barberra for all of the hard work he has put in for the PG. Most of it is unseen but he does tons.
Good job, Matt!

Aww, a props thread! I haven't been on the new boards yet really.

Thanks to Sammy and everyone who organized, worked, attended and played at last night's Close to Del Marathon. It was a super fun night!!!
The Reckoning last night. The opening - scene painting and asking the audience politely to bear with them as they describe a room. Group scene where the cable is out and the family discusses films since they have nothing to watch on tv. You know what, just too many great scenes to list. Thanks Reckoning for always reminding me why I love improv so much. You guys are greatness:)

I saw Alpine Rescue @ iO last night for the third time, and I've really enjoyed all those shows.
They're only a couple schedules in, so I think they're early in working out the mechanics of navigating shows, but it's a bunch of talented, likable people -- the kind of improvisor you watch and think "I think it would be rewarding to have a conversation with that person".

Airbourne tonite and Whiskey Rebellion had great shows. WR was their first show together and everyone said they had met backstage--really awesome work kids!
Thanks Hannah! Our name is actually Triangle Offense (for now) and we did all meet backstage for our first show! We had a lot of fun experimenting with each other and I am excited about everyone on the team - even the coach (Manley).
Whiskey Rebellion is another new team that I want to give props so it's a great transition.
The real WR has been rehearsing for two months, twice a week, and they are made from two levels of past 5B grads. They are all SO funny and solid and what makes them great is how strong and together they were in their first show a week ago Wed. (opening for Felt). It was literally one of the best harolds I'd ever seen and that's not just because it was a new team's first show - like it was one of the best shows by anybody in a real long time - I am SO excited about Whiskey Rebellion.

MIKE JOHNSON!
Mike Johnson, though his name is boring, is DEFINITLY NOT BORING.
At the Playground, Mike currently plays on MORT, DSI and can be seen hosting Open Court some evenings. If you've ever seen Mike Johnson host, then you know that Mike Johnson is like a wicked good host. He is king host.
He is a very funny and skilled player, who makes smart form moves that drive shows. He great fun to play with and is such a generous performer.
Here's a picture of him dressed as a clown...
http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i243/pkremida/Mike_Johnson_Clown.jpg
Slow down, Mike Johnson! Whoa!
Mike has studied at iO, Second City, Comedy Sportz, and the annoyance. At CSZ he plays on the BattleProv team Thunderthieves. He currently coaches the playground incubator team, Cloaka, which features Neal Dandade and some other people.
Mike Johnson can be found playing with 'The Movie' at iO on tuesday nights, and guess what, he's great in that, too.
If you are ever in the Chicago area, I highly suggest catching a show featuring Mike Johnson.

Welcome to the Givin' Props thread!
Give props to whatever improv group that deserves it. One caveat--you cannot be a member or the director of that ensemble.
I like how this evolved from a "give a team props" thread to a "give a person props" thread, and then everyone averted the above stipulation and started giving props to people they're on teams with.
Mike Johnson is awesome though. Way more awesome than Sammy and his fucking RULES.

I'd like to take a second to give props to one of the most talented improvisers in the city, Roger Payton.
Roger was one of the senior members of International Stinger, when I joined the team, back in 2004. It was Roger who agreed with Dave Ries and Mike Perry to put me on the team. Even back then, they knew that the team needed something special, some spark of live and creativity to thrill and dazzle the audience. I was that spark.
Working with Roger in my early years was a real education for Roger. I can remember those long sessions down in the Comedysportz basement, as I slowly instructed Roger on the precise art of the pantomime. After a few sessions, Roger was able to show the difference between "turning on the shower" and "waving hello to a friend". Before I began instructing him, they both look like an advanced case of Parkinsons. But I was a capable and patient teacher and I think that really helped Roger to grow.
I can remember something that Roger said to me once, that really changed my life. We were behind the current Playground space, just after a Stinger show. I'd done some brilliant bit that so impressed the audience that they'd given me a mid-show standing ovation. Roger put his hands on my shoulder and he said, "There's a lot of small people in this town, Biddle. They're going to try to tear you down. They have to. That's the only way that they can try to play on your level, if they bring you down to theirs. Fight them. You're the best fucking improviser in this town. Your imaginary locations are more real than the real locations. You've got something special. Hold onto it. You're going to be the Moses to this Improv Community." Wow. That really shook me up. It really freed me up to openly hate most other improvisers and their work.
Rogers the most generous and giving player that I've had the pleasure of impressing. I've taught him a lot of what he knows. We've had good times and bad times, the only constant between them was how brilliant I am onstage. And how he'd stare at me, mouth agape, as I blew his mind up, in a scene.
That's the image that I have of Roger, in my head. Eyes glazed over, mouth open, a thin line of drool, slowly slipping down to the floor.
We will miss you, Roger.

I'm sure she's been given props before on this thread, but I'm going to give a personal shout out to Stacey Hallal.
I'm a relatively new improviser. But it still means a lot when I say Stacey has so far been the single biggest influence on my improv education.
It's not just her natural ability to teach. It's her attitude. She is one of the most generous and optimistic people I have ever met. Not only did she inspire my ensemble to form and pitch our first show, she took her personal time to coach us and direct us. She has been diligent with making us play to the top of our ability, but equally as diligent about making sure we are having fun. In the past I had never really thought I could perform on stage, but Stacey helped give me the confidence to believe I could do it and do it well.
If I ever find myself teaching a bunch of scrappy, young improvisers, I will be sure to use Stacey as my example.
I hope you find fun and success in Portland.
Big props to Dave Asher for jumping out during freeze tag last night!! He said one line and then they pulled lights but it was a great move.
And props to Forsythe for trying his best at the piano, even if he was just banging his hands on the keys:)

The 10:30 audience at iO last night started out a little tepid and seemed a little unsure about whether they'd rather be at a Chekov festival. That is until Diplomat Motel came onstage. Diplomat Motel conquered that audience. They had an incredibly fun show last night and totally owned the audience. Had them in the palm of their hands. It was great to see.

I'd like to give props to the second half of the 5b team Name Drop Soup. Excellent closing night show and a really fun job of working in the fact they forgot to take a suggestion at the top. Very fun!
Props to the Beatbox on Friday night! Sadly, it was my first time to go. But they were so amazing!!! It's hard enough improvising but to add beatboxing.....well, it was just really impressive. And you guys put 110% into it; you all looked like you were having so much fun. Good work guys, I can't wait to go back!!! FYI - Fridays at midnight at the Playground:)

Shotgun and Stubs continue to amaze me. Thursday nights in the Cabaret at iO is my favorite improv night of the week because of them. I'm still shaking my head in amazed disbelief at last week's Shotgun show, especially the exuberant recital of every crappy top 40 Brit-pop band from the 80s/90s as an example of Englands' awesomeness. And Brad Morris is at the very top of my list of people I love to watch. His characters, his wordplay and his ability to never never never miss a beat are incredible.

Mister Fancypants. Jeez, was that the best improv team ever or what?
Both their coaches opened their own theaters, three members have opened their own theaters, and other members of that team have gone on to do great things, like Jim Bennett, who's wowed people around the country with GayCo, and Phil Mottaz who as part of SuperPunk has done some of the best sketch comedy Chicago ever saw.
What an amazing team. And I am not a member of that team. That team is retired and has no members anymore.

Howie, CEO of Everything, and Tigers of Macedonia had really fun and funny shows at the Playground tonight! The house was small but the teams all had great energy and a playfulness that showed they were having a blast.
Props to Pat O'Brien and Bill Cochran (and Allison something-or-other, who I don't know) for performing with Jeff Garlin at his show at the Annoyance last night!
I didn't really know what sort of show it would be, but it was a sort of stand-up/storytelling fest where people just riffed off of what the others had said, sort of like a Living Room, but more monologue-ish and without improv scenes. Funny stuff!
Also, Jeff Garlin gave Bill some nice props, saying he was extremely castable and could think of about 40 parts he wanted to cast him in...if he had studio backing and money and such. Awesome!

adam higgins of hogwash is a great guy and the funnest vocal projector i've seen in a long time. great to see him boom out with his big voice out of his skinny body. they played last night at iO.
bill from bullet lounge is brilliant. blaine from bullet lounge is brilliant. steve from bullet lounge is brilliant. saw them all last night. one bit where a singing cow and the cowhand milking him shared a heartfelt moment while singing the breakdown from Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" was magic. it was bill and the fellow who was hosting that night. i forgot his name.
the virgin daqueries played earlier in the week at iO and it was powerhouse.
andy st. claire and alex fendrich produced some fantastic work with TJ, sitting in for Dave at the TJ and Dave show. dave's smile right before each show when he says "trust us, this is all made up" is enigmatic.
and the guy who tapes the tj and dave show, adam, is super chill and a pleasure to sit beside as he works. he's got a soft smile he grins as he watches the show, silent as not to get picked up on his mic. when he does make a sound, it's a moment in the show to remember.

Tim Baltz is his name and he is one of the best improvisors out there. So smart. So good.
A few props from last night's CIR show:
Jake Schneider helped me book the Reckoning for the CIR show last night and then left on a boat. The idea was lost, alot of the Reck is touring and others are sick, and then at the last second resurrected as Holly and Jet both made it to the show and tore the house down, props to them for coming through and not bailing like they could have. It was awesome, and they really killed.
Props to The Rabble who did a bad ass punk/50's style show. I had no idea so many people on that team could play electric guitar.
And finally props to the Cosby Sweaters from Depaul, for bringing a kick ass house and living up to the two acts before them, the one's mentioned above. It makes me happy to see colleges doing as well as some of the best in the building, mad props.

Big props to the people who attended/played Open Court on Thursday the 28th. Especially the new folks.
The level of support that night, especially having 1/3 of the players never having been there before, was awesome.
It's a very rewarding experience for us when a whole group of people who have never played with each other commit to helping others look good. You folks really rocked that night performing and supporting.

Craig Uhlir is my Obi-Wan Kenobi and my Darth Vader in one.
Improvised Shakespeare on Friday. Man, I never get sick of watching those guys. I've never been to a show that hasn't been packed to the gills. With only a 5 person cast, they managed to induce tons of "oooohs" and "ahhhhs." And many sighs from all the ladies. And with character names like Benzadrine and Menander, how can you not love them? At one point they talked about how Menander meanders across the land. Classic. And deaths of most people involved them going to the dying place (aka Blaine or Greg's crotch). Kudos to you guys. You never cease to amaze me. :D

SKWIRL!
The best overall sketch show, scene to scene, that I've watched since coming to Chicago three months ago. (Though Fuacata is close to my heart.) Phenomenal. Hilarious. Had the crowd with each sketch. The scat-ish song covers between sketches was HAAAH. Great job. It killed.
And props to Craig Uhlir and Danny Mora for contributing in such a positive way at the Jam at iO last night. Craig in particular was phenomonal, uplifting a piece and making the people on stage feel better. Showing some class as opposed of the rest of the lot of "hotshots" at the bar, with their incessant negativity and classlessness.
oh, and also, mad crazy props to the visiting level D students from Second City Detroit who took part in the Jam and rocked the hell out and produced some wonderful scenes despite it all. great stuff!!! :)

thank you to the Reckoning for letting me draw on stage with them tuesday night. and props to the anonymous middle-aged white man spotted in the bathroom rolling up one of my drawings and walking out with it after the show. my art is steal-worthy? that's the biggest compliment of all.
also, iO level 4 students and improv-men-about-town mr. peter robards and benjamin kennedy are fine, fine and talented human beings. as is brandon taylor from big news. i loved his role as the old senator in the roger clemmens hearing a few shows ago. "Hep! C'mawn, now! Take em OFF! C'MON! hep!!"
Props to Cook County last night. One of my favorite things about this group is their transitions; they are really smooth and organic. And even if someone missed the transish or is doing the same character from the previous scene, they always make it work and make it look so easy. And props to them for calling things out. Last night one of them was accidentally hit in the face and wouldn't move into a new scene unless someone apologized. Hilarious! They always have the richest characters with so many great details. And they never ever drop their shit. They are a great team to watch and learn from.
Can't wait for the next show guys:)

Big props as usual to The Reckoning's Tuesday show. It was an Armando form with the cast members providing the monologues, but it felt completely fresh and fun.
Best of all was an all-too-real assembly about drunk driving. I was crying laughing.
I just wanted to give HUGE props to the Battleprov and Off-Off Campus guys. Last night they took a show format that I have never seen anything like, and just played it like they owned it the whole time. So great, playful, stupid, smart and funny improv.

Mrs. Dad!!! wow. what a great show last night!
it's not easy to make a 10:30 wednesday night show so energetic and hilarious, but you guys knocked it out of the park.
i'm still laughing about the jamaica/jamocha scenes.
Mrs. Dad- a team to watch. there. i said it.
So many shows this weekend.
Steve and Jordan Respectively - major props to such a well written show. The transitions were crisp and flawless. And the 2 monologues were so heartfelt. Not only did they both have great comedic timing but great acting chops as well. It really makes me want to work harder on my sketches.
Second City mainstage - I absolutely loved this show, mostly for the risks it takes. After sucha political heavy show, it was nice to have a break. It's a show that focuses a lot more on social satire, than political. Some scenes had a very improvised feel to them and stood out in the show. These scenes didn't follow the rest of the show, which I really liked. They strayed from the norm. Especially the one with Ithamar and Shelly, it had a 40s, film noir feel to it but very slapstick as well. A well written and played out show with such a talented ensemble. I have a new improv crush on this whole cast.
Props to Hindenburg and Hunter Family Crest last night.

I am deeply glad I had a chance to finally catch Seeder & Lee (DC auditions). Really fantastic. It was great to see proof of just how much more rewarding comedy is when your actors can really act.
On a completely different note - it was my pleasure to pull lights for several months of Fishnutz at Annoyance. Relentless, liberated, and always hillarious improv. Chicagoland is great too, but probably not as much a 'kept-secret'.
Honestly, GO SEE Fishnutz and Chicagoland. Tuesdays at 8pm.

04-28-2008, 04:31 PM
I had the pleasure of seeing The Fling this past Friday at The Playground, and their form "It's Been a Hard Year, Dad."
It was one of those shows with grounded, realistic characters that managed to get laughs by simply "being real". (One of their biggest laughs came from a perfectly timed awkward silent moment between two characters.) It was the kind of show that we all talk about doing, but find often find it hard to accomplish.
And they won over a largely "dick joke" crowd.
Kudos to them.
Edited to Add: (In the interest of full disclosure, I'm dating someone in the cast. And I have a man-crush on Jamie Buell. There.)
Nathan Cotter. He did lights for the Chicago Improv Rebellion for about 3 monthes and asked if he could come back to do some stuff with his guitar. I had no idea what to expect, completely tore the house down. Audience=owned. I don't even know if he reads this board, but if you know him pat him on the back.

As someone who is affiliated with none of the teams, but was at the show mentioned in the previous two posts, I have to also say that I really enjoyed The Riot, The Senate, Wing Night, and the Basic Eight on Wednesday.
All the teams were good, but Wing Night gave me an extra-special improv lovebone.
Gross. I'd delete that, but my backspace key is totally broked.
Gotta give props once more Nathan Cotter. If you need something hot and musical to freshen up your show, it's just him and he brings the Thunder. We started the Rebellion show last night to a crowd of 5 and by the end of the night we had over 60 folks in there, Nathan did THREE sets. Twisty and Hunter Family Crest were also very good, but gotta give Nathan some props. If you can make the theme song to David the Gnome cool... well, you're doing something right.

I would like to give the propers to my beloved old RedCo last night. For those lucky enough to see the home show last night they did the legendary review Pinata Full of Bees. It was amazingly cool to see a show that is 13 years old still look amazing and hold up material wise in today’s go, go, comedy world. I’ve only seen the original on blurry old VHS, so to witness it live was amazing. A tip of the cap to Andy Miara, Bryan Dunn, Kyle Anderson, Dana Quercioli, Tim Baltz, Mary Sohn,, Mark Raterman, Michael Patrick O’Brien and Rebecca Hanson. They did a ton of work in a very short time and the end result was pure magic.

Jim Carlson is a genius teacher. I knew/had heard for a while how he's the director of the show at Second City. But taking his level 3 class now and seeing how he works is like watching Speed Racer race. He's a tactitian. He stands at the back of the room, one arm folded, one hand to his chin, watching. You do a scene, then he talks about it and starts saying what you could have done differently, and then in the midst of it, just goes "actually, just do that!" He gets you up and has you play those same characters at a different moment or with one subtle change, whatever he says, and suddenly it's all hilarious. It's all brilliant. And in your head you just go, "daaaaaaamnnn."

I have to give some big props to everyone who participated in Saturday's 15 Hour Project. Especially the coaches, who were incredibly smart and excited about the shows they chose to direct. From what I heard, you were all staking claim to the shows even before they were done being workshopped, and that shows some terrific enthusiasm that fueled the day.
Big thanks to Don Hall, Joe Janes, Angie McMahon, and Jamie Buell. The shows were excellent and smart, thanks in no small part to the excitement you all had for your shows, and the intelligent approaches you took with directing them. Everyone who participated yesterday said they loved working with all of you, and kept asking when we were doing another project.
Thanks, all!
I absolutely loved Revolver's show on Saturday! I had a big, dumb smile on my face the whole time. The energy was ridiculous, it was insanely funny, and Dave Asher plugging in those R.E.M. songs during the transitions was awesome. A hearty Teddy Roose. "Bully!" to the Bella gang and their li'l Sandbox Show. They've given many teams some awesome performing opportunities and put up fucking hysterical shows of their own every goddamn week. A genuine credit to the community, these!
Yer real sweet, Bellas, real sweet, and I looks forward as heck to yer return.

During Friday's Jam, some guy was doing a stereotypical WWII-era German. And someone in the crowd yelled, "Too soon."
I'm still laughing.

Hardcore props to the Reckoning. They are consistently brilliant and consistently funny. True artists...
They deserve at least 5 amen after this post.

Mrs.Dad Is a Seriously wonderful Team. don't be stupid general public, go see them. if you have been through the Training center at iO, are in it, Think about being in it, or think about when you went through it, you owe it to yourself and your significant other to see Mrs.Dad. They are really very very great. hooray for everyone that gets to see them.
Agreed! Mrs. Dad is absolutely fantastic. They have so much fun. I adore them. Go now... go see them.

I wanted to give some props to the cast of Guy Friends and their guests, TJ Jagadowski and Brett Lyons. Friday's episode, "The one where Nick becomes a spy" was fantastic. Super fun.

This is very late, but at the end of June, Brendan Jennings as Michael Jordan emceeing the Cook County Social Club/Frank Hayes 4 show one Thursday night, as the only man capable of wielding the magical key to unlock the mystic door behind which that evening's world of improv lay in wait.
And in that same show, Seth Weitberg, who has some of the most superb character work on earth for my money, during the Frank Hayes 4 set playing a gregarious, little, elderly black man on a park bench fondly remembering a World War 2-era sweet called "Salty Totts."
Those two things will be with me for the rest of my life. Things that I will be able to think of and smile. Thanks to them for that.

Pudding Thank You, featuring Adal Rifai, Louis Saunders, and guest Brett Lyons, had a stellar show at the ATC on Friday night. I honestly can't remember the last time I laughed that much. I actually laughed SO much that I had an asthma attack.

A big "Well Done!" to the cast and crew of Metaluna. I caught it closing night, so I'm too late to tell you to go see it... which is my bad entirely.
Mike Johnson, Lisa Fairman, Joe Janes, Mary Jo Bolduc and Don Hall were all excellent (as was the script, also by Joe Janes).
Well done. Let's hope it doesn't take another 12 years to see it again!

I second the Props to Metaluna! Seeing it twice was not enough; I'm still thinking/laughing/questioning things. I wish I was watching it again right now. "Haberdashery."
Also, Hendo, I think you watched the unlock-able bathroom door for me (I thought you looked familiar, I should have said something.) So Props to Hendo for making sure no one walked in on me while I was using the toilet.

lol... that was YOU?
Well, thank you for the return service!
Electric Mayhem - I saw them open for Felt again last night. They are one of the best new teams I've seen in a long time. They have no fear attacking the stage and they are great at editing. The frozen game yesterday where one player had to move across the stage by either walking on the chairs or jumping onto people was the best game I've seen. You guys are great to watch. Props to you:)
And more props to Felt. Last night's cast made me laugh so hard. I love the new professor puppet! Hilarious. My favorite scenes were the 2 guys trying to fit all their groceries in the smart car and the 2 girls who saw a ghost. Actually, I just loved the whole show. and nobody better than Jorin to host and get the audience pumped. You guys are the best.:D

A belated dollop of propers for Pudding Thank You, they had a really, really great set in New York at the DCM (which was 2 weeks ago, hence the belated-ness). Jorin Garguino, Louie Saunders, and Adal Rifai, wonderful stuff!

Even more since he got rid of the moustache. He made up for not being at DCM by rehearsing for what turned out to be some wonderful closing performances for the Steppenwolf summer program.
So props to Ryan "Golden" Dolan and his Steppenwolf scene partner Jessie Fisher for being awesome at Steppenwolf!

The show ended on male-on-male kissing which, in my opinion, is the only way to end a show.

Owl Farm had their first show tonight, and had some real good work going on, great group stuff and funny and well paced during the entire show.
They were then shadowed by Lindberg Babies 2.0 who took on the holocaust, 9/11, and ignorant racism and made it all hilarious. Props to that show tonight the most. It was seriously very very good and impressive
