Classic. Just classic. Who hasn't played this? Who hasn't spent hours with three friends shooting each other until way after bedtime?
Let's share our memories on one of the greatest games of all time.

oh NYU memories.
The fellas at the end of the floor would host late night Goldeneye marathons, with 6 - 8 people crammed into a tiny room. Soon, we even had some of the ladies on the floor cramming in to play with us.
Grenade Launcher and remote mines were hoot. Loved them to death.
Golden Gun matches were a blast too.
Never had Goldeneye myself, but I did eventualyl get Perfect Dark, which runs off the Goldeneye engine. I remember a New Year's Eve party at my place back in the day that was 4-player matches until daybreak. Good stuff!

I remember fondly tearing it up as Odd Job. I'd take the lead and then I'd hide in a box that I blew up by crouching down in them as they reformed around me.
Unlimited ammo and weapons cheats make this game the bomb... I still fire it up every so often.
Perfect Dark was a great next step to this game's platform. remote control slayer alone.

This was THE GAME for me. The end all be all. No game has ever reached the same level of adoration amongst my friends and I, it makes Halo look pretentious.
Oh god, I want to play it. I was a Boris man myself.
I tended to play as Xenia. Hopefully people were so overcome with her beauty that they gave me a chance to get the first shot in.
I never knew that about the spawning boxes. Good trick!

I was always Trevelyan, we played this game, Mario Cart and WCW vs The World non-stop my freshman and sophomore year of college.
I had the remote mines down to a science, i used them as frisbees and exploded them in people's faces. I also was real good at hiding prox mines, The thing that made me better than my pals at prox mines was that i actually remembered where i put mine.
I still have a 64 and GE and Perfect Dark, occasionally i'll load up a bots game on Perfect Dark and play for hours.
Fun Facts: Multiplayer was added as an afterthought.
The Klobb was named after a game dev Ken Lobb.
Check out the Goldeneye wiki page...it's pretty neat.

I'll fight you.
I still have my N64 only for Goldeneye. Oh, and Mario Kart.

They really, really need to release GoldenEye for Wii as a downloadable game. Seriously! Oh my god...

They really, really need to release GoldenEye for Wii as a downloadable game. Seriously! Oh my god...
According to Wiki:
The President of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggie_Fils-Aime), announced that Nintendo is exploring the possibility of adding GoldenEye 007 to the Wii (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii) Virtual Console (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Console), despite a complicated situation in which the game's developer Rare is owned by Microsoft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft) (producers of the rival Xbox 360 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360) console) and the video game rights to the James Bond franchise are held by Activision (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activision). He stated, "We would love to see it [on the Virtual Console], so we're exploring all the rights issues."
I was always Valentin. Boy, that fat man should shoot!

My favorite ultimate bitch move in this game was tossing remote mines up in the ventilator shaft above the bathroom, then waiting for somebody (hopefully not you) to respawn there.

"No Oddjob!"
We called the Dostovei the "Dostoevsky" and the RCP-90 the "C-3PO."
C'mon, Virtual Console!

Oh man! I was a helicopter pilot man myself. I always enjoyed killing another player, and then as they died I'd shoot their crotch up before they respawned. Honestly one of the best things about this game was how easy it was to add insult to injury.
Also: can't go wrong with Slappers Only plus One Hit Kill!
Telfer
08-20-2007, 05:42 PM
I was actually really bad at this game, except in Pistols Only one-hit-kill. I could always get in the first hit. I was surprisey!
Ugh, so good.
I was/am horrible with any rocket launchers and gernades. I will inevitably blow myself up in the process of killing anyone.

We would call the Klobb the Kla-Bob. That gun is teh Sux0rz!
Did anyone find out what the AC-10 award was for?
Telfer
08-20-2007, 06:09 PM
I think AC-10 meant you picked up the most armor.
God the memories this brings back... the shittiness of the Klobb, the impossibly maze-like Temple, the dark and irritating Caverns, the beautiful ricocheting with grenade lanuchers, the camping of the Facility bathroom (with mines and more), we did it all. The Facility was a sweet map because of all the cramped quarters, it forced so many stand-offs. I will never forget that map, it's still ingrained in my visual memory. I could probably build it to scale with cardboard boxes.
I have to admit, being Boris or Oddjob was kind of a handicap because they're both shorter than the average character and therefore harder to hit (though Boris only slightly more than average). We had all sorts of horrible nicknames for things. I wish I could remember them all. The only ones I can remember are so offensive I don't care to repeat them. What can I say, I was 19 when the game was at peak popularity.

Update:
Jim Fath and I are in talks to host a Bond gaming session in the near future.
Please, keep your calendars free.
It'll probably just end up being Jim, Telfer and I, but man it will be fun.

We'll have to pick a weekend when we are free and willing... My girlfriend offered to cook.
I have a big LCD TV in the living room plus there's the MAME machine in my kitchen which I can load a MAME 64 copy of Bond as well.
We'll have to play Perfect Dark, and Mario Kart as well. Perhaps Diddy Kong Racing

64 wrestling games were freaking radical.

nice! i'm down. MK, DKR and goldeneye! i also have Jet Force Gemini which is great 4 player deathmatch game.
Telfer
08-29-2007, 08:16 PM
I am awesome at No Mercy! The best part is the custom wrestlers in that though- you can't play without them. Shamrock Whatshisbutt has a "face" that looks exactly like me, so customizing works out pretty well. Oh man...
As long as the main event is GoldenEye, I'm in. I'll play other stuff, but I'll be thinking about Bond the whole time.

I have a functional N64 and 4 controllers plus another copy of MK and (I think functional) Perfect Dark that I'd be willing to bring to such an occasion.
I think my favorite moment of gaming was playing Doom in DeathMatch mode.
My best friend Dennis has several computers hooked up on a LAN.
Tim, who spends waaaay too much time playing video games was clearly better then any one of us.
However, I spawned right next to a missile launcher. I grabbed it, and found myself in a four way intersection.
I turned to see that Tim was in another room, in another four way intersection, way down the hallway. He was looking down another corridor. The wrong corridor.
I pressed the button.
Tim slowly started to turn in the direction of my missile, which took a good four seconds to make it down the corridor.
I got to hear his reaction just before the missile hit.
Sweet, sweet, glory.

Yes, this is awesome. I will be there.
What do you need, i have a n64 and stuff, some extra games maybe if you wanna try out wrestling.
jimfath
11-27-2007, 06:17 PM
I have an n64 but we could hook up another to my arcade machine. Yeah. bring the N64. I'm assuming you've got the RCA cables with it and what not. Bring as many games as you want. You might want to mark your name on them with masking tape in case people roll up with several duplicate games and what not.
I'm going to send out a few e-mails to see who else is down... I have 5 controllers. Might want more if you bring your extra N64. If enough people want to come over maybe I'll bring down another TV and have three games going at once. Ugh… would that be too much? Maybe wrestling on one, Perfect Dark on another and Bond on the big screen.
I'm probably getting ahead of myself. It might just be you, me and Telfer.
I can't believe it's been ten years since this game has been out.
I remember futilely trying to get one at Christmas time in 97.
UPDATE: SHOULD we make it 1 in case people need to leave early for things?
