I discovered a website/organization called kiva.org. The underlining concept of this site is based off principles that won Muhammad Yunus the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006. It allows you to collectively microfinance entrepreneurs in the poorest places on Earth. It's a loan, as opposed to charity. I already have half my loans paid off.

I think this is a very cool idea in action. Its also something pro-active that you can do if you are concerned about global poverty. I realize this might come across like a sales pitch. If so then I apologize. That is not my intention. I just want to introduce people to this site and concept. If you are interested and would like to discuss this further that would be great.
