This August my family and I will be participating in the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk. Its a walk that takes place over 3 days for 60 miles (in the sweltering heat of August in Chicago) and all the money we raise goes to help fund critical breast cancer research and outreach programs. Eighty-five percent of the net proceeds raised from the Breast Cancer 3-Day will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which is leading the global movement to end breast cancer forever, by funding research and community outreach programs. ( www.komen.org/sgk (http://www.komen.org/sgk)) Fifteen percent of the net monies raised will benefit the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund, a special field-of-interest fund that will provide support for breast cancer initiatives including research, treatment, prevention and education. Now that you know where the donations will go... You should know that I've agreed to raise at least $2,200 in donations. That's a lot of money! And I definitely need your help. Would you please consider making a donation? $25? $50? $100?! (It's 60 miles people!)
I know that I have personally been touched by this disease; I have watched my grandmother struggle with it as well as neighbors, family friends, church members... It seems I'm always hearing stories of women who are diagnosed with breast cancer, in fact, I can't think of anyone that hasn't been affected by this terrible disease. And I'd like to do what I can to fight it.
