So, I'm just moving to Chicago with my fiance. We both do improv and are planning to start classes at IO in August. I have left a job as a general IT person for a law firm. My plan is to look for Temp IT work after I move up here on July 9th. I'm up here this week, and would like to go by and check out a few Staffing companies (especially those specific to IT) if anyone knows of a few good ones. Thanks a million. You are all shining stars.

Addison seems to always have work. I've never taken a job with them, the pay is pitiful. Then again I'm a software guy, if you have good, actual IT skills you'll probably get much better assignments.

Ask for Elizabeth, and you can use me as a reference (Jonathan Shalvi).

Manpower Technical is a good resource as well. Abbott gets about 60% of it's contractors from there.

Robert Half Legal might have some Legal IT stuff.

For creative side stuff check with: Creative Hotlist/Commarts, Creative Circle, SmartDept, and Sun Consultants

Second on Manpower... Motorola gets all it's contractors from there. But Mot is mostly in the burbs, and I think Abbott is as well.

Northwestern University (in a close suburb that is accessible by public transportation) uses TEK systems to hire contract IT folks . . . both general tech support and developers sometimes.

i got my current job answering an ad on craigslist which was an ad put out on behalf of another company by watson and dwyer. try andrew depaola (ADePaola@watsondwyer.com) at watson and dwyer, he's a super cool dude and is great at what he does. tell him you heard about him through tim yager, he should remember me.

other than that, check craigslist. :)

btw, i'm from dallas too, so welcome. whereabouts are you from in dallas? there is a pretty good group of texans up here, so if you ever want to hang out let me know. and eat as much taco bueno, chick-fil-a, raising cane's, whataburger, and just general tex-mex as you can before you move.
