Trying to get an agent in Chicago? Looking to audition for more theatre/films?
The Virtual Showcase is a service for Chicago area actors to gain more exposure with local casting directors, agents, theatres, and other industry professionals. Rather than spending hundreds of bucks on a traditional headshot mailing, Virtual Showcase is emailed directly to nearly one hundred industry professionals--and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Here's the links to the May and June Virtual Showcases for reference:

Participating actors are scheduled for a fifteen minute audition slot. The actual audition consists of a brief personal interview, a small piece of commercial copy I give actors in advance to prepare, and a one minute monologue/scene that actors prepare on their own. (Note: this is not a class or a coaching, but I will try to make you look good!)
After your audition, I edit your footage and post it to a link like the ones above that is then distributed to an ever growing list of industry professionals (for starters, the link is sent directly to all the major casting directors in town, every SAG franchised agency, and close to 50 directors, photographers and independent producers.)
Here's a couple early success stories:
I had been sending my headshot and resume into various talent agencies for months. A week after I did Matt's showcase I got a call from an agent and they decided to represent me.
-Kevan Morgan, actor
This showcase got me my very first on-camera agent. I just got my new head shots back from the printer, and I'm ready to hit it hard.
-Brad Spencer, actor
The showcase is limited to 30 actors. The cost is $50/actor to cover space rental, equipment costs, and my time.
Actors participating in the showcase will also have the link emailed to them for their own reference.
There's no guarantee, of course, but the likelihood of these professionals watching the auditions is much greater than just cold submissions in the mail--especially because I have relationships with almost all of them. At the very least, it is MUCH more cost effective than a traditional headshot mailing. (Mailing a headshot to half the people this link goes to would cost you over $50.) Also, and perhaps most importantly, industry folks can hang onto the link for future reference. It's active for a full year.
Interested?
Registration is only through email: matthewmiller16@gmail.com.
Auditions will be scheduled from 9:00AM-5:30PM on WEDNESDAY JULY 15. Location is TBD (most likely somewhere downtown). Do let me know if you have an audition time request (although if you're open/flexible, it helps me immensely).
