I love that picture. They showed it on WGN and I laughed and laughed. The coyote looks so freaking precocious. There's another picture of it yawning/looking like a puppy, and it's zoomed out a little more so you can see it's actually squatting in the beverage cooler itself.

i work like half a block from there and all of my coworkers were talking about this throughout the day. i just kind of got confused.

a coyote? in the loop? did anyone even know there were coyotes in illinois, let alone downtown chicago? and how the hell does a freaking COYOTE walk down the street and no one notices? WHAT!

They caught him unharmed and will let him loose in an Illinois preserve.

I grew up in Joliet and the surrounding boondocks as a kid, and I've seen coyotes in the Illinois wild before. They're super cool- just don't let your cats outside if you live in rural IL or they will fuck them up.

I'm with Gena. Someone had to see that Coyote approaching. I mean, like I never see dogs walking by themselves in the Loop, let alone big dogs that look EXACTLY like a coyote. How did it get there without being reported sooner. Weeeird.

oh phew. then I enjoy this picture now with you all. If he'd gotten hurt it would have depressed me terribly.

They interviewed the guy working at Quizno's and he was awesome. He totally lured the coyote into the store to protect him, which I thought was awesomely selfless and pretty brave.

I liked the sub-headline....great marketing work, no doubt corporate is pleased, lol.

Coyote strolls into downtown Quiznos: 'He probably smelled our prime rib,' manager surmises

I threw my hat into the ring, composing my own story title:

Well, he was wearing roller skates and jetpack that read "ACME"... so maybe that explains it.

Oh man, and Quizno's had a promotion for gunpowder disguised as piles of birdseed.
