(...or from the sun, I suppose)

How long would it take for a ship (manned or robotic) to travel from the Earth to the Sun?

Without light speed?

I'm trying to find it online and getting nowhere. I'm guessing around two years? Maybe. It supposedly would take about 260 days to get to Mars... anyway. If anyone knows for sure, that would be great.

at Mars' closest point it's 54 million Km from earth. The Sun's average distance is 149 million Km from earth. I don't know where you got the 260 days from, but if that's right, then you're talking about 2 3/4 years. If I understand it correctly, your velocity will increase as you get closer, but the actual distance you would need to travel is greater than that because it will try and pull you into orbit. I don't know how much or little those affect the time, but 2.75 years is about right based on strict speed and distance.

Avg distance to Sun from Earth = 149,597,871 km

Fastest man made object recorded, Helios 2 at peak speed = 252,792 km/hr

if you started at max speed and went directly in a line to the sun = 592 hours or approx 25 days.

good luck finding out how long it would take using actual arcs and speeds ;)
